Regina Bechtler Ward is a native Carolinian born in Rock Hill, South Carolina but calls N. Myrtle Beach her home town. She graduated from N. Myrtle Beach High School in 1982. After graduating from high school she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of South Carolina, Coastal Carolina Campus in Conway, South Carolina (1991). While in undergraduate school she received academic recognition being named on the University of South Carolina President’s, Chancellor’s, and Dean’s Honor Rolls. Her image and story were published in the University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus brochure. Her biography was published in the National Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She was elected Student Body President of the University of South Carolina-Student Government Association. She was a nominated member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Leadership and Honor Society and a Congressional Member of the South Carolina Student Legislature. Attorney Ward also later attended one of the largest private women’s colleges, Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina where she earned a Paralegal Certificate. She worked as a paralegal for the senior partner of one of the largest defense firms in Raleigh, North Carolina with over 100 attorneys and offices in three major cities. While working in North Carolina she authored a published article, “What is a Paralegal?”

Attorney Ward earned her Juris Doctor Degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School located in the capitol city of Lansing, Michigan (2005). She graduated with academic honors, cum laude. What makes her academic distinction much more impressive is that she completed three years of law school courses in about 18 months. While in law school, despite her grueling double-time schedule, Attorney Ward found time to volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, be an active member of the Women’s Law Alliance, and serve as interim Vice-President of the Student Bar Association. She competed in the Moot Court and Mock Trial competitions and was the winner of the Best Written Brief Award. Attorney Ward was the recipient of two Certificate of Merit Awards for academic excellence and achievement for her Constitutional Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution courses.

On July 19, 2005, Regina Ward achieved her life-long dream of becoming an attorney when she was sworn in as a member of the South Carolina Bar at the Supreme Court of South Carolina. Attorney Ward then worked for a well-known firm in Horry County and was quickly promoted to managing attorney. In November, 2008 Attorney Ward founded the Law Firm of Regina B. Ward, LLC located in downtown Conway, South Carolina. She has represented clients in Horry, Georgetown, Richland, Lexington, Charleston, and York counties. She is currently a member of the American Bar Association (ABA), the South Carolina Bar Association, the Horry County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Women’s Law Association. She is a member of the ABA Practice Sections on: Trial Litigation, Family Law, and Solo Practice. She is also licensed to practice law in The United States District Court for the District of South Carolina. She is a Certified Family Court Mediator and has a Mediation Practice helping people resolve their family court matters without costly litigation. She is also a Certified Guardian ad litem, where she serves to protect the interests of minor children and speak on their behalf in Family Court.

Attorney Ward contributes to the community through her volunteer work and has participated regularly in the “Ask-a-Lawyer” telephone bank, a South Carolina Bar Pro Bono Program; Habitat for Humanity; coaching High School Mock Trial; speaking for the middle school Career Day; and Adopt-a-Highway.
